- New Lead on Cold Case

No one has seen Dennis Mann since January 29, 1979.  He had just celebrated his 19th birthday and was living in Winona and working for Screw Conveyor.  He simply disappeared that cold January day – nearly thirty-two years ago. Dennis was last was seen at a home of some friends at the intersection of Foltz road and highway 51, just south of Winona.  Over the years there has been a lot of searching, questioning and a whole lot of speculation but Dennis Mann has never been found.  At one point a skull found in a local creek and it was said to be his.  It wasn’t.  In 2008 the Cold Case unit of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation in Batesville reopened the case and Montgomery County Sheriff Bubba Nix has also been working on the case since he took office.  Sheriff Nix received a tip that Mann’s body was in a well on Mason Road and Wednesday; the Sheriff had that well dug up.  Nix said they dug 33 feet to the bottom of the well but only found trash.  He then had the task of calling Mann’s mother to tell her there were still no answers. And it’s back to the drawing board.   Sheriff Nix requests that anyone with any information about Dennis Mann, no matter what it is, contact the Sheriff’s Department at 283-3343 or 283-4612.
